Movie Day with Friends

80s Movie Day

Road Trip

Haley, Kaya, Kirsten, Lanie, Melody, 2 or more, Xyra

Lady Webby invited us down to her house for a movie day. So we grabbed our slipper socks and sweatshirts and headed out!
It was an hour drive.
Xyra plays the radio all the time. Usually if one of us is in the car she puts Radio Disney on.
But this time we listened to 80s or 8 and First Wave. Fun music from the 80s.
Coco sang a long on a couple of songs.
(laughing)

Arrival

We were second to arrive.
Lady Vanyer beat us.
We grabbed our stuff and headed to the door.
Lady Webby prefers shoes off.
So we left our shoes by the door and headed to the kitchen for snacks.
Lady Navia made a really good bean dip!
And Coco got to meet Miss Bella, Lady Webby's Cairn Terrier. They got a long really well.

Movie Time

Then we headed downstairs and found seats.
This couch was so very comfy!
Room for all of us...
Including Coco!

Early Show

First, we watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off.*
"Let my Cameron go..."
(giggling)
They paused it twice within the first 2 minutes.
The second time because Lady Webby's dad delivered pizza to her house for us.
What a great dad!
This was a fun movie.
I don't think I'd ever be like Ferris; I'm more like his sister Jeannie.
But it was fun to see what he and Simone and Cameron did.
I felt bad for Cameron - especially at the end.
After Ferris, we had Lady Vanyer's awesome cookies.
Kirsten found the Rubik's cube in Xyra's goody bag and played with it during the break.

It was fun! See I got it back to solid.

Twilight Show

Then we watched Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.*
It was funny.
Bob Ghengis Khan...
(giggling)
So-Crates Johnson
(laughing)
Their presentation was 100 times better than the other kids'.
Then we had Lady Webby's fabulous strawberry pretzel goodness!
(sighs) Yummy!

Late Show

Finally, we watched Pretty in Pink.*
Lots of angst in this one.
Andie has some family issues.
Blaine has his own issues.
Duckie is awesome.
Iona is great!
(narrowing eyes) Steph is slimy.
His girlfriend isn't any better.
(murmuring agreement)

Heading Home

The last movie ended around 11:30.
We cleaned up.
Packed up.
Said good-bye.
And headed home.
It was a great night!
We can't wait for the next movie day in August!

Besides Frozen, what is your favorite movie?
What do you like to eat during the movies?

Best wishes,

* Xyra Note: We watched these movies uncut on DVD Ferris Bueller and Pretty in Pink are rated PG-13; Bill and Ted is rated PG - mostly for language. All are edited when aired on TV. To our younger followers we do not suggest watching these movies without first getting your parent's permission. Since I was there, the girls had my permission, could ask questions if necessary, and understood they should not to use certain words.

  2. Sometimes my (doll) mom lets my invite all my friends over to watch scary movies. But she never lets it get any scarier than "The Blob". Some of our favorites are "The Brain That Wouldn't Die", "The Monster That Challenged The World", "The Giant Claw", "Earth Vs. The Giant Spider", and other spookies. We love eating Jiffy Pop, candy and soda just like at the movies or the drive-in.

    1. Those are a little scary for us. We saw part of something like Earth Vs. The Giant Spider and ha to turn it off.
But we did like the Taking of Pelham One Two Three, 10 Little Indians, Murder on the Orient Express, The Man with the Golden Gun (love James Bond), Young Frankenstien, Benji, and Herbie Rides Again. :)
Jiffy Pop is so much fun! For candy we like raisinettes or snow caps.

  3. I really like historical movies, and movies that have been around for a while. Sounds like you had a fun time! (Those strawberry pretzels sound really good)

    1. We like so many movies from the early days of "talkies" to now. The older ones and the historical ones transport you to another time and place. So very interesting.

I think I will see if I can post the recipe for everyone. :)
