End of an Era

A Sad Day in the Toy World

Toys 'R Us closed it's doors today. We say good bye to Geoffrey and all the fun we had shopping in that store. In our last visit we found this great LEGO exclusive set. Seemed fitting to build it today.

Much love to all the Toys 'R Us kids out there!

Chit Chat Plus

Comment Ça Va?

Hey, how's it going?
I know it's usually Grace who uses French but I wanted a catchy opening for a super laid back post.

If you follow us and we follow your blog, you may have noticed we haven't been doing much commenting. Well, other stuff got in the way and now we are working our way through our inbox.
We're going through the primary box first then we'll move into social. So you might be getting comment notifications for older posts. Or maybe not since Blogger stopped sending email notifications for comments. That new policy is kind of annoying, but since we moderate our comments we always look at the blog stats board for comments awaiting moderation.

Anyway, here we are halfway through the year and still slightly behind. So many of the bloggers we follow have slowed or stopped posting we just haven't been up to updating our blogs we visit page. We will because we have new people to add. Just takes some time to go through the list.

Enough of business...on with the fun!

A Blind Box!

Last week Mimi and Flo brought us some fun goodies. This is the first one I want to show you. It's a Ty Mini Boo blind box. I love surprises, don't you!
I wonder which one is inside?
It's nice they include a checklist.
What are you doing, Coco? Wait. I'll get the scissors.
Oh, I see white feet and a blue tipped tail.
CUTE! A Puppy!
(giggles) You have nothing to worry about, Coco! Although I think this little guy is bigger than Caramel Creme. (giggles) It's Duke! Cool!
Gotta love those big puppy eyes.

Such a great surprise.
This would make a great birthday present; the box would be so easy to wrap.

Do you have any Mini Boos? If yes, which one or ones? If no, do you collect other blind bags?

Best wishes,

Extra Mini Adventure #1

Friends Meet and Build

Okay, so you knew it had to happen sooner or later. (giggles) One of had to try and post using our LEGO Friends. (giggles). Check out what happens...oh, and the dialogue key is the color of the doll's shorts/skirt. Emma will be dark blue and Olivia hot pink.

The Meeting

I'm Emma.
I'm Olivia.
My friends sometimes call me M.
Neat! Mine call me V.
V? Hmmm, that's super cool!
Very nice to meet you.
Same here. Shall we walk?
[M and V head off stage right]
What's wrong?
Look at this huge pile of bricks.
What do you think it makes?
Help me open the instructions and we'll find out.
Hmm, looks like they make a puppy.
Well, let's get sorting!
[M and V sort the pile into similar bricks]
Whew! That was a lot of work.
I know, right?! Let's rest for a bit.
[A few minutes pass]
Okay, now let's get started! I have the first piece ready.
Here is brick two.
[M and V click more bricks into place]
(giggles) Cute tail!
(giggles) Yeah, it is!
[More bricks click together]
Body done!
High five!
[M and V flip the instructions]
Looks like the head is next.
Well, let's get to it.
[bricks clicking into place]
Here's the other beige square.
Help me get the head into place.
Sure thing.
So cute!
Should we be concerned about extra bricks?
Last bit!
And it's a hydrant!
Oh, no! (giggles)
Job well done.
I don't know if I would stand on that side, M. (giggles)
(giggles) I'll be okay.
You wouldn't spray us, would you, boy?
(giggles) Puppy kisses!

So what did you think of our first Extra Mini Adventure?

Coolspring June 2018: Day 4

Coolspring Power Museum

June 2018 Expo and Flea Market

Hi! This is my last installment reporting on our trip to the Coolspring Power Museum June Expo. The last day is bittersweet. The museum itself is still busy with engines running and being cleaned up to be ready for the next public day, but the field is really empty. People packing up and heading home.

Xyra and I started tidying up our truck making it easy to finish packing Sunday morning.
Yep, we stay until Sunday.

One of our neighbors asked if we were going up to the quilt show at the church. We almost forgot! Lea said I should go if there was time, so we grabbed our gear and walked up with G-Shall.

The quilts were in the sanctuary. Wow!
So we bought  nine tickets to vote for our favorites. It was hard to choose. Lady Dartia and Lady Grey would love these!

This was my favorite. It's a tea cup quilt and had embroidery as well as regular quilting!
The center showed a full or almost full tea service.
The zinnia quilt was cool because of the deep colors.
You can see the flower quilted into the squares.
This one had colors you find in Coastal Living magazine: aqua, white, grey. AND butterflies!
So pretty. The quilter made a matching case for storing it. I think Gramma Enne would like this one, even if it isn't purple.

This one was really fun! Lots of sheep. And do you see the message in the bottom corner?
"Ewe are loved."

I like this one. Lanie would love it.
Okay, so i saw this one and my jaw dropped!
Do you see all those tiny pieces that were stitched together?! And the center too! Nice warm colors too. Reminds me of autumn. There were a lot more, but I liked these best.

After the quilt show we headed back to the Power Tech Annex for a while.
Got lunch. Today we tried the hot dog people. The guy misheard me when he asked what I wanted on mine. I told him mustard on one and ketchup and mustard on the other two. He said I said, "everything." Not sure what universe ketchup and mustard sounds like everything, but Xyra yelled before he could put onions on them. They were good, but Yocco's is better. At Yocco's I get a cheese dog with sauce and pierogies.

After lunch, we did more tidying then just hung out by the tent reading.

It was pleasant listening to the engines running. As the day wore on, the museum got quieter as each engine shut down. Franz and Professor M loaded engines into our truck so we wouldn't have to in the morning. Then it was up the hill to dinner. This was the last big night.

Which quilt was your favorite? What toppings do you like on your hot dog?

Best wishes,
