Fashion Review: Laundry Daze Designs

Laundry Daze Designs: Local Designer

Summer Skort Set

Have you ever visited or participated in a Relay for Life? There is one near our house every year. We go to check out the team tents and vendors. This year we saw a tent in the vendor line where we could shop. It was Laundry Daze Designs' tent. Ms.Kristen specializes in our clothes as well as Renaissance Faire Apparel and general seamstress work. I fell in love with the skort sets. She had a green and lavender floral skort set and Hello Kitty too. It was tough decision. Ms. Kristen's Relay for Life price for this outfit was $5.

The Review

The set consists of a sleeveless crop top and skort (skirt with hidden shorts built in). Ms. Kristen chose a green and lilac floral cotton calico fabric for the outer sides. Then paired a matching solid lilac cotton fabric for the trim, lining, and shorts.
Here you can see the underside of the top and shorts.
She chose hook and loop (aka Velcro) closures on the back of both the top and skort.
The top opens completely so it could be worn backwards as a vest.

Melody Models

We have the perfect sandals to go with this outfit thanks to Gramma Enne. And my lilac glasses match too!

Isn't this a cute outfit? Perfect for summer outings? You'll see how we mix and match these two pieces in future posts.

Lanie Gets Ideas

Great Aunt Lanie's Garden

I'm always up for visiting a great looking garden. The other day I headed over to Great Aunt Lanie's new house and garden. It's smaller than her previous garden, but still gorgeous. Check it out!

White azaleas, so pretty. Ours at home are pink - also very pretty. The winter was really hard on a couple of our bushes. If we have to replace them maybe we can put in white.
Can you see the pink lilies in the background?

I love these tall pink flowers.
And the containers! Oh, the ideas for containers we could put around our house!

Lady Jem uses containers on her balcony to make it beautiful in the spring and summer. We joke about her balcony-ing instead of gardening.

Lanie has big, two toned irises around her house.

Love the colors! The pale lavender and the rich purple - wow!

Do you have a favorite photo from this trip? Can't decide...how about a favorite flower?

Happy gardening!

Share Your Chair

Reader Request: Favorite chair?

Our Favorites

Haley, Kaya, Kirsten, Lanie, Melody

What is your favorite chair?
You know, the one you almost always choose.
Or where you go to read.
Melody and I tend to fight over this chair.
Yeah! It's cool and comfy.
I love our flip chair because I can fold it up or lay it flat depending on my mood.
My favorite chair is this huge adirondack chair on the porch where I can listen to the birds and watch storms and breezes and people.
We just found this chair and I love it! The seat webbing needs to be replaced, but other than that it's super!

Memorial Day 2015 Part 2

Our Memorial Day

Haley, Kaya, Kirsten, Lanie, Melody, 2 or more

Parade

Each year the start and finish of the Memorial Day Parade changes.
This year it went right by our house.
We made sure we were out there.
Got a nice surprise too. Our friend Miss Lex was leading her horse as the tribute to honor fallen soldiers.
You know, the riderless horse with backward facing boots that follows the color guard. What an honor!
Her mom, Lady Brooke, was helping too.
This is a quiet parade. One that reminds us of those that gave a lot or all to serve our country.
We responded in kind to the veterans in the parade - nodding or smiling and waving.
We didn't follow to the cemetery, but know there was a lovely presentation.

Post Parade

After the parade passed by Franz and Xyra started power washing the outside of the house.
We kept the animals entertained.
It was loud in the house.
But watched too.
That was fun.
(giggling)
The porch is much brighter now.
When they finished we took the dogs outside.
They all needed a walk and some play time.
We stayed outside until dinner.
Hamburgers and baked potatoes and salad.
Yum!

I know this post is US centric, but the UK had a bank holiday. Even if you didn't have a holiday this weekend, we'd love to know what you did yesterday? Or if you had a picnic this weekend?

Best wishes,
