Biggest Travel Day

Today is the biggest travel day in the US so I wanted to share our trip to Gramma Enne's.

Way back before I had sisters and before Xyra even knew about doll blogs she had heard about Flat Stanley, Paper Pierre, and other family projects where a beloved plush traveled the country (or world) and had pictures sent back home. So off we went to Nevada and Gramma Enne's.

We packed, dressed comfortably, and headed out. Being x-rayed was not a lot of fun, but at least I got to keep wearing my shoes. Then we got to the gate. We flew Southwest.
The flight was nice. Xyra likes the window seat so I could look out for most of the trip. [This seat also made it easy for her to keep a hold of me during take off and landing. They don't let you do that anymore.]

When we arrived Morrisa and Gracie checked out our bags and actually became our roommates during our stay.
Morrisa liked to sit with me and Grrr.

We went on a walking tour and saw Mark Twain's brother's house. It is now an office but very pretty. Check out the pretty glass above the door.

Another day we went to Virginia City and rode the Virginia Truckee Railroad down to Gold Hill.

The tunnel was really dark.
The Emporium was fun.
Sunday we went to church. The doors have pretty Frank Lloyd Wright style glass design.

I found this cute book to read.
The dessert was in bloom during our visit and very pretty. Check out the sage and other flowers.

Another trip took us off to Lake Tahoe.

Then it was time to head home. We had a stop in Denver and found this really pretty waiting area.

The visit was too short, but lots of fun.

Be safe in your travels! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. Wonderful pictures! Looks like you had lots of fun!
About the plane, what do you mean by saying that the window seat made it easier for you to keep hold of your doll and they don't let you do it anymore? Do you mean they don't let you hold your doll during takeoff and landing? If that's true, that's SO cruel- I'd be so angry!

    1. They don't like to have things out that could get loose and bounce around the cabin in the event of turbulence. Being at the window one can sit in a way that shields between the passenger and the wall. Yes, I think it is cruel too. the rule may have changed again since people are allowed to have tech devices out during take off and landing.
Thank you, thought it was time for a change. :)

    2. Okay! Now I understand! Thanks for taking the time to explain it to me! if I ever go on a plane anytime me soon and I take my doll, I call a window seat! (I would even if I didn't have my doll, I love sitting by windows!) :)

    3. I think the window is best, even though sometimes it is quite cramped.
