Fashion Review: OG Cabin Chic

Melody on Fashion

Our Generation: Cabin Chic

You might remember that my sisters gave me the Our Generation Cabin Chic outfit for my birthday. It's really cute. I wore it for the Thermos Tea Tumbler post.

The vest is cozy and soft. You can wear it tied in a bow (like above), untied, or loosely tied. I don't suggest untied; you could trip on the sash.

Inside the vest is striped, but isn't really reversible. That would have been fun.
The skirt is soft denim with faux pockets. I wish the pockets were real; the stitching detail is nice.
It closes with Velcro in the back. The back seam could have been sewn a little better, but it's still comfy.
The socks are thick and soft. They bunch a little in the shoes, but not badly enough to throw off my balance. The flats are adorable. Black molded plastic. Not as rigid as My Life As shoes, but not fabric. I love these shoes. They will go with so many outfits. I kind of wish they were navy, but we have other navy shoes. (I'm really happy they aren't pink - we have plenty of pink shoes.)
Okay, you may be thinking, "That's not the same outfit I saw in Target or online." You're right. Since it is cold and snowy here I added the grey leggings from the Coconut Fun Outfit. Plus there was a slight problem with the blouse, so I pulled out the yellow mock turtleneck Gramma Enne sent us a couple of years ago with the butterfly jumper. It matches the argyle in the socks.

What's with the blouse? The wrist cuffs are too small. I can't get my hands through either one.

Haley couldn't either. Xyra thinks she may be able to split the seam at the cuff only.

Overall this is a fabulous outfit! Lots of great pieces for mixing and matching.

Which is your favorite part of this outfit?
Have you ever had an outfit where one of the pieces didn't fit? If yes, were you able to fix it?

Have a great day!

Best wishes,

    1. The socks are really nice. This was a first try at the Katniss side braid. Didn't quite get it tight enough, but with more practice...

  5. I had the same problem with that shirt! I decided it was a younger style anyway and gave it to one of the slightly smaller dolls.

    1. It would look good on a Hearts4Hearts - belted as a tunic.

    2. I recently bought this outfit and had the same issue. There were a couple reviews on the Target website with the same complaint as well, major fail! I very carefully took a seam ripper to the innermost seam and took several stiches out, it was just enough to barely get it over a doll hand without having to tear the whole thing apart. The rest of the outfit is adorable though, I tied the bow for the vest in the back, it looked very cute.

    3. Yes, major fail. I was really disappointed because I love the moose pattern of the blouse. Great idea about tying the bow in the back. Will have to try that sometime.
