Tea Review: Fashionista Tea #3

Tea for Tuesday #3

Fashionista Tea

Organic Fashionista Blend

I'm here in the test kitchen...(laughing)...okay, just not in our home kitchen...to share another tea. Back in May we asked you to help us find a new Fashionista Tea blend to try and the votes leaned toward the white tip jasmine we reviewed in July
But in with the jasmine was a sample of the Organic Fashionista Blend that Audra suggested. It's time to give that a try. Especially after reading the Fashionista Tea Back to School blog post.

The package reads: Fashionista Blend - organic black teas with botanicals, a reminder of Paris. The ingredients include: organic breakfast blend, organic congu, rose, lavender, orange peel, and other natural flavors.
Plus it give a suggested steeping time of 3 - 5 minutes. At the bottom is the contact information for Fashionista Tea.
I'll use the IngenuiTea pot so you can see the tea brewing.
The bag is in and the hot water, now we wait. I love this first bit of color.
I forgot my  cup, so Xyra will help me with hers.
And since we are in the test kitchen my tires are limited to plain, with sugar in the raw, and sugar with milk.

(4 minutes pass)

Done! It smells delightful.
Look at the lovely amber brown color of the tea.

Plain
Oh! Oops! That first sip was too hot. Thankfully not so hot I burned my tongue. That's annoying when that happens. Let's try again.
That's better. The flavor is as fragrant as the aroma. I get a lot of lavender vanilla.

With Sugar in the Raw
Hmmm, the molasses from the sugar in the raw changes the blend a bit. Adds a malty sweetness. Remember if you add any sweeteners that have natural flavors to them the tea will take them on as well. Think wildflower or clover honey and the molasses here.

With SitR and Milk
Ooo, super creamy. And it's only 2% milk. Very nice. The florals are present and so is the vanilla. I don't get the orange very much and there wasn't enough to make the milk curdle. So sad when that happens!

I like this one, but someone who doesn't like floral teas may not like it.
Even though vanilla is not listed in the ingredients, it seemed like there was some boosting the lavender. So those who are not fond of vanilla teas may not like it either.

Do you like floral teas? Do you think Grace (AG GOTY 2015 ) would like this tea?

Xyra's Notes

  • The Organic Fashionista Blend is a very nice, fragrant, full-bodied blend. It's not my favorite, but has good flavor.
  • We were sent two tea bags and I did try re-steeping. It holds up well for three cups.
  • Best hot. It was not as good as it started to cool. Did reheat well.
  • Melody and I found Fashionista Tea at the Philly Coffee and Tea Festival last November. The representatives are very nice and quite helpful. Tickets for this year's festival are available now. Sadly, we won't be able to attend the 2015 festival. :`(

Best wishes and happy sipping!
