Thirsty Thursday #23
Taylor's of Harrogate
English Breakfast
Hi! You know how Melody's favorite tea is Earl Grey? Well, I like Earl Grey a lot, but love English Breakfast tea. So today I wanted to share one you can find in your local grocery store. It's from Taylor's of Harrogate. This company also make the Yorkshire blend we reviewed in 2015.
The box comes with 20 individually wrapped tea bags. (giggles)
This box only has three left, well, now two.
The back of the tea bag pouch and one side of the box give brewing instructions.
A closer look.
The box also shows the ingredients.
These bags are unique in that the string is short until you extend the tag.
You have to pull gently so you don't put a hole in your tea bag.
I'll just pop the bag into our little green pot.
Xyra pours the water. While I set the timer for 4 minutes.
The other side of the box provides more specific blend information and the company history.
Says the blend uses African and Assam teas to make it bright and malty. Okay, I'm paraphrasing a bit.
[Timer beeps]
Yay! It's done steeping. Okay, you can't see the color very well here,
but it smells warm and wonderful. I get the maltiness of the Assam.
Here you can see the rich color better. Nice and dark.
(sips)
The plain is full and rich in flavor. Has a bit of an edge too.
I've added a touch of regular white sugar to the cup. (sips)
The edge is smoothed out with the sugar.
Now my favorite way; milk and sugar. (sips)
Yep, this is the best. Well, for me anyway. Malty, creamy, bright, a little woodsy.
So if you like black tea and are looking for an affordable tea bag with great flavor,
look for Taylor's in your local grocery store. This would make a good iced tea too.
See you again soon!
