We saw a lot of people started back to school last week or even earlier last month.
We started today.
Last week I switched up my routine so getting up earlier wouldn't be so bad. Wasn't ready for it to be quite this dark.
Anyway, here's our first day photo.
Some might wonder why we all wore skirts?
Two reasons...
First, why not? It's fun to dress up for the first day of school. Plus the weather is nice and we aren't permitted to wear shorts.
Second, in honor of Melody and MaryEllen.
Did you know that it wasn't until the Education Amendments of 1972 that girls were free to wear pants to school?
Before then most school districts required girls to wear skirts or dresses. Some were allowed to wear pants under their skirts for the walk to school, but they had to change when they arrived.
Stephanie Zinone does this at the beginning of the movie Grease 2.

Great 1st day photo! I remember all too well not being allowed to wear pants. In the winter I would wear a pair under my dress that I had to take off once I got to school and then put back on for recess. The poor teachers of the lower grades having to deal with not just boots, but a classroom of little girls constantly having to take pants on and off! Lucky for me, it was only 1st and 2nd grade. Then I lived in pants from then on!
