Once on This Island
Lea here. I had the wonderful opportunity to go join Xyra, Lady Webby, and Lady Vayer at the Arden Theater to see Once on This Island. It's a fabulous, calypso-based re-telling of The Little Mermaid. It brings in Caribbean mythology and is heart breaking. Lady Webby passed Xyra a couple tissues before the musical started. A very good call!
No photos were permitted during the show. We snapped this one before it started. The set was fabulous!
After the show we went to get ice cream at The Franklin Fountain. Their sundaes come in old fashioned paper ice cream carriers. The reminded me of Chinese take out containers.
Then we saw another store called Shane Confectionery. The oldest continuous confectionery in America. not sure if they truly mean America or the United States. There is a difference. The interior and the staff are all period decorated and dressed. Loved talking with them and exploring the sweets! Of course, we took some home.
