The Build: May 2018

We Really Didn't Forget

Hi! I bet you forgot or thought we forgot to build the May calendar. Nope, just took a bit longer than we thought and then we couldn't fit a photo shoot in. That really stinks when that happens. So now here it is almost Memorial Day and you're just getting to see the calendar.
Anyway, this one has a lot of people! It's a festive month. Some might call it busy. We went with food carts to fit our vehicle theme, and you have to have people at the food carts!

So over here we have Olivia and Emma with Olivia's robot delivering a beverage from Mia's cart.
The bride and groom are deciding which cart to go to and their dalmatian puppy is sniffing the bouquet.

Andrea and Emily are discussing ice cream with Stephanie. The pug puppy is hoping for a doggie dip.
Over here is the hot dog vendor. Simon and his pup are ordering lunch there.
Now, if you look at the calendar itself,
the row colors represent the kind of May we are having in southeastern PA. Brown for freshly turned earth and mud, dark green for grass and leaves and new plants, pink for all the flowers, grey for overcast skies and rain, finally the blues and yellow of sunny skies. Oh, and the birds. You know spring is here when mornings are filled with songs you hear through your open windows.

I like the bride and groom best.
You know, there really is a lot going on in this build. you can't quite see the spring flowers and other animals.
How about a different angle.
That way you can see some of the other flowers and the hedgehog and black kitty and catch a glimpse of bunnies.
Simon is disappointed because the hot dog guy doesn't have sauerkraut. What do you like on your hot dog?

Here it is from above.
This one shows the bunny tail! (giggles)
So what do you think about May?
Do you have a favorite part? Or do you have a favorite food cart? What does it sell?

Tchau! Até mais tarde!

Royal Wedding Watchers

Getting Up Early

Grace, Haley, Kaya, Kirsten, Lanie, Lea, Melody, 2 or more

Hi! Did you watch the Royal Wedding on Saturday morning?
We did!
Got up at 4 AM.
Put on the kettle and grabbed some scones and lemon cake.
Plopped down in front of the TV.
All those pretty dresses and lovely hats made up get dressed too.
Got back to the TV just as Princes Harry and William arrived.
Here's a bit of our wedding attendance activities.

Meghan meets Prince Charles at the organ screen and he walks her the rest of the way down the aisle.
Harry and Meghan in front of the priest.
Melody is not up to snuff dress code wise. No hat.
The service was beautiful.
Inspiring.
Lovely.
(sighs)
Xyra found both the hymns in her choir hymnal so we could sing along.
Sort of, some of the lyrics were different.
But overall...
The cellist was my favorite!
(laughing) Of course!
Then it was over and we were watching the Duke and Duchess speed off in their coach.

The whole event was fun.
A great reason to celebrate.
Exciting.
I loved her dress!
The page boys did a great job with her dress and train.
All those flower girls!

Did you watch the wedding live or in one of the recaps?
Did you make anything special to eat?

Our menu included Harney and Sons Royal Wedding tea; review on that to come.
Strawberry yogurt scones and lemon cake from Starbucks.
I liked the cake much better than the scone.
Me too!

Wednesday Whimsy

Fifteen Years Ago...

Have you ever rummaged through your closet to find a favorite shirt or dress or skirt hoping it would fit? I do that sometimes. Most of the time what I find no longer fits, because I've grown. I mean, who fits into the tee shirt they loved at age 4, even a year later let alone 15 years, right? Those items either become a quilt or are sent off for someone else to love.

Well, I came across my fabulous light green, two-piece dress from 15 years ago when I stood guard over wedding gifts. Guess what?! It still fits!!!!

Unfortunately, the beautiful little hair comb needs a bit of hot glue to reattach the pearls, but I have this great hair clip from Gingersnaps Bows
The owner of that shop is Sarah Nemitz. She does really nice work.

Outfit Details

Dress, necklace, and shoes: American Girl retired Junior Bridesmaid Outfit
Bracelet: American Girl retired Flowers and Favors set.
Hairbow: Gingersnaps Bows

Do you have a favorite item in your wardrobe that still fits? Or maybe one you wish still fit? Or even one you are glad doesn't fit anymore? If yes, to any of these questions, what is that item?

Oh, and which is your favorite photo?

Best wishes,

Wicked Weather

Strange Day

Hi! How are you doing? Were you in one of the states hit by this weird storms? We had hoped to be home before it rolled through to finish mowing one portion of the yard. That didn't happen.

Around 3:30 the sky started to get cloudy and dark. Like really dark! It looked more like 8 than 4 out there. At 4:30 Xyra's cell phone screamed out an alarm noting "Imminent Extreme Weather until 5 PM, possible tornado." I didn't think it could get darker, but it did and the winds picked up. Franz called to say we should stay put. We weren't going anywhere. Xyra was on the phone with Xerox trying to get a printer sorted out. She warned him they could get cut off. And, they did. Man, does it get dark in her office when the power goes out. And loud. Back up batteries were beeping, the server backup battery was just plain screaming, the alarm sounded...

I couldn't do anything so I just watched the storm. Side note: these photos are dark, but the are supposed to be. By this time the storm had almost finished passing and I could see some clear sky coming.

I'm glad I had a stuffed animal I could hold.

How do you feel about storms? Is there something that helps keep you calm?

Be Safe, everyone!
