First Timer
Oh. My. Goodness! It's almost December! Where does the time go? It's just nuts, time just seems to slip away "like sands through the hourglass." So here we go a little recap from our trip to Coolspring Power Museum. First and foremost, we want to wish all our readers a Happy Thanksgiving. We hope you had a lovely day. Did you see the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade? The performance by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI was FIERCE! We just loved the Derpy and Sussie balloons too!
Let's Go Back to October
I was so happy to take my turn going to Coolspring Power Museum with Xyra and Franz. My first time too. My sisters told me all about it and showed pictures, but it really is something you want to experience in person.
Wednesday is the travel day. We arrived at the museum around 1 and moved into our spot in "the neighborhood." After lunch from Villella's Meats Franz started working in the Power Tech Annex and Xyra and I started setting things up in the camper.
Thursday was super fun! In the morning Xyra and I headed up to the gate to meet Flo, Mr. Flo, and Kit from Say Hello to My Little Friends. We headed into Punxsutawney and Gimmick's restaurant. We ordered and listened while Xyra and Flo caught up on dailies and the adventures they've shared since meeting in 2015. Ten years, man! My favorite stories - searching out the Punxsutawney Phil statues and meeting a UPS guy who helped them locate a few and giggle fest at the police station.
After Gimmick's, well, while still at Gimmick's but after eating we took a few photos at the Phil statue out front.
Then we went to locate 2 more. At the last one Kit and I celebrated the 10-year friendship with a high 5 or mid five. (giggles)
Then it was back to the museum. We said goodbye to Flo, Kit, and Mr. Flo. They headed home and we headed to the grounds. We went up on the hill and checked out the progress on the new building, the Snow, Engine Wonderland, and S.W.'s building.
Then down to the field.
The fun doesn't stop when it gets dark, but it got really cold. Glad the others told me to pack for all weather.
The next day I explored the Power Tech building and the Lillibridge building.
After dinner we peeked in the Municipal Works building. It was toasty and bright!
Saturday was a great day to walk around and get photos of the fall foliage.
After dinner and a movie, I got to see Sudlow Station!
Too soon it was time to head home. Check it out, from puffer jacket to shorts all in one week! That's PA for you.
This museum is amazing from the people to the engines. Just outstanding! I'm sad I didn't get to meet Doc Harvey. I hear he was a wonderful guy and enjoyed having my sisters visit.
Check out this vide of the Hornsby-Ackroyd DeLeVergne running. We have a couple more videos that I'll share on our Facebook page.
Are there any places you visit where you always pack for four seasons no matter the time of year? Share a comment with us.
Thank you for stopping! Hope you come again!
Warmest wishes, Tina!
