Doppelflöte
Hi! Bev here! On April 15 I was lucky to attend the Doppelflöte concert at Little Zion. Oh, hey! The pronunciation for the heading is dop-ul-flute.
First, we had dinner at The Pizza Box; a new restaurant by church. We had a slice of sicilian and margarita. Both were really good. For a drink we had "original" Coke. When we arrived the restaurant was really busy, but we found a seat.
When we arrived at church the musicians were still warming up. Even though it was suggested we sit upstairs, we chose to sit downstairs. We could turn around to see the organist and flutist playing and really wanted to see the second part of the program...the building of the organ.
The pieces featured three different types of flute - regular (not pictured), wooden, and piccolo. My favorite was the wooden one.
After intermission, they came downstairs. Check out his great organ shoes. Cool color!
The organist explained how pipe organs are built with this smaller version. Two pieces were played on this organ. The first time a member of the audience was the pumper. The second time the organist was, because the gentleman playing was a composer from Sweden! Anders was very nice!
Of course, after the program was over, we checked out the organ. So cool! I even played a note or two.
If ever you hear of OrgelKids being advertised in your town, I highly suggest you check it out! So much fun!
Which is your favorite photo? Do you play an instrument?
Thank you for stopping by! Come again soon!

What a great post--very informative. Xyra and Bev had an adventure of a lifetime to see how a pipe organ is built. Wish I could have been there too. Pipe organs are the best; & Little Zion's pipe organ has a beautiful tone and was a joy to play. Gramma Enne
