The Build: April 2019

Spring and Easter Theme

Hi! Kirsten here. I'm back for a great build reveal! You can see a glimpse over my shoulder.
This one took a little longer to complete because we really wanted to feature "Easter" mini figures and when we saw the "chick" as a purchase with purchase we had to wait for it to be available.
Then discussing colors...that can cause a few arguments since we all have different favorite colors. (sighs)
I think it turned out quite lovely. We have a bunch of spring greens.
Then the purple for the crocuses that pop up first after winter. Purple is also for the season of Lent.
Then we pulled out our previous egg hunt set for the mini figures, eggs, and fences. We found all our little bunnies. And the lamb, of course.
We're keeping the month arch in our design too.
Some spring flowers and eggs.
Here's a view from above.
I like it.
Don't forget to find the pineapple!
What is your favorite part of our April build?

Thank you for stopping by. See you later!

We Weep with Paris

Notre-Dame Cathedral

Our hearts are broken. A place rich with history and stunning in so many ways. One featured in art and literature. One that touched the hearts and souls of many. Taken by flames.

Xyra was blessed to visit the cathedral in person. She and Grace are truly heartborken over this loss. We extend our deepest and sincerest condolences to the people of France and all who carry memories of Notre-Dame in their hearts and experience.

Much love!

National Pet Day 2019

Just a few from our Family

If you follow us regularly, you know we have a huge menagerie of pets. All are receiving a few extra treats today.
However, our time photo time was limited so Xyra said the first two out the door with their pets won the shoot. We won!
Getting down on their level was the best way to keep everyone from exploring the yard.

Melody

Coco is my second Westie. I still miss Coconut. Licorice is my first kitty. She's the eldest of the cats.

Lanie

I love bunnies! Even if they nibble my garden. So cute and fluffy and sweet and funny.
Lulu is my favorite. Nutmeg and Razzi make great friends for her; the bonding went quickly and well. Razzi and Nutmeg had already bonded so it was a good thing they welcomed Lulu to their circle.

Do you have any pets? Our pastor's family is thinking about getting a bearded dragon. We've been thinking about an iguana.

Best wishes!

Happy Birthday: Lea

Lovely Lea Celebrates

Hi! It's my birthday! Woo hoo! And it's beautiful out today! So I donned our birthday girl finery and headed out for a photo shoot.

The Shoot

Xyra's Extras

  • Today is Lea Silverleaf's birthday. You can see her factoids for more information. Lea Clark's birthday is August 14, 2005.
  • The featured outfit was added to Melody's wardrobe in 2005 and has been worn several times. The original box code is GBOM and listed as Birthday Girl Dress even though it is an outfit of separates. The entire outfit consists of long sleeve graphic tee, lavender layered skirt, sandals, tiara, bracelet, and book.
  • Lea was kind enough to let me show you the difference in waist size. The skirt sits low on her hips while it is snug to Melody's true waist. I can easily fit my finger between the waistband of the skirt and Lea's body. The left sandal kept falling off too.
  • If you like this outfit and are lucky enough to find one with the tiara OR if you have this outfit and your tiara is looking a bit distressed. Fear not! A jewelry polishing cloth will take if from dingy to sparkling again in no time. Here are a couple before and after photos. Just be gentle with the comb part; mine wiggles and might need the touch of a soldering iron.

Do you have a favorite photo from my shoot? Let me know in a comment.

Tchau! Até mais tarde!

Road Trip-DC Part 3

Finale

Hi, again! I'm so glad you have returned to check out the grand finale of Saturday's meet and greet. The Tyson's Corner Center Store also known as American Girl Washington DC. Have you ever been to an official American Girl store. One that doesn't disappear in a few months? This was my very first visit to one. Yes, I did go to the King of Prussia Pop-Up Store a couple years ago, but it's not the same. I mean, really, I can't go back.

The funny thing is, Clarisse was in Philly when I was in DC. She mentioned wearing her vintage American Girl tee shirt while exploring a city with so much American history and yet we don't have our own permanent American Girl store. Ugh! (sighs) Okay, enough venting! (giggles) Let's just jump to exploring DC!

Exploring the Store

While Briar and Chrissa were in the restroom, I visited with Melody. She has a nice bed. Her dog, Bo, is really sweet.
Then I talked with Luciana.
She let me explore the space module. (giggles) It's not Marvin's Pu-36 space modulator. (giggles)
I had Briar and Chrissa join us at the module.
After our trip to space we headed to the farm and Blaire's farm to table restaurant.
The kitchen is nice.
We had fun with the cart.
Chrissa and I set the table.
Blaire and Briar got a photo together.
Looks yummy, but we had just finished lunch and I was stuffed!
The pergola slats are bare now, but there are plans to have wisteria or ivy or another climbing plant create a natural canopy.
Then I met up with Nanea at the shave ice stand. She tole me to wait for a minute while she changed and we would head to the market.
Mele is adorable. She offered me a lei, but I couldn't take it. I thanked her for the offer.
Maryellen asked if I'd grab her a soda from the fridge. When I opened the door I had to laugh.
Do you see what I see that should be in the freezer?
The airstream was parked in a strange spot. You could barely get to the door.
Then I met up with Melody again. She was in the studio cutting a track.
I made sure I didn't touch any of the buttons in the booth.
This egg chair is super comfy. I love the ottoman.
The wheaton terrier looks as cute in the rough and ready jacket as Meatloaf does. I love the bed but am not sure who all would use it in our crew. (giggles) I have a feeling Carmelotta would take it for her own. Or Heather! Their both so tiny.
Oh! This little one looks like Bijoux! I wonder if Bonbon would like a friend?
Hmmm, we have older versions of Felicity and Rebecca. I wonder if anyone would like to add a new BeForever to our collection?
If you had to choose one of these dolls, which would you choose?

Yay! Corn hole! I had to throw a couple of bean bags. It's a great game we learned on Ocracoke.
I met 53 at the hotel. She said her room was really comfy. I complimented her pajamas.
Then she offered me a glass of water. So I headed to the ice bucket.
Well, that was my first experience at American Girl. Until we meet again.

What was your favorite part of my adventure? I think meeting all my new friends was my favorite part...and maybe the egg chair with ottoman.

Best wishes,
