Holiday Cookies

Planning Christmas Cookie Baking

Xyra, Melody, Kaya, Kirsten, Lanie

What are you doing?
We're finding the cookies we want for Christmas.
Really? What have you found?
You have a lot of recipes.
(laughing) Yes, I collect recipes. May not use them all, but love reading them. Well, have fun.

There are two ginger cookie recipes.
Scottish Shortbread.
A double-chocolate cookie recipe
And a triple-chocolate cookie recipe
Greek Melamakaronas
Rocks, they make me think of Hagrid, but these are better!
Oatmeal and chocolate chip.
Father cookies.
German Pfeffernusse and raspberry bars

Have you made any decisions?
Nope. They all sound tasty.
Let's put them back in the basket. We can make a list later.

I think we should use this cutter this year.

I don't think we've ever made cut outs at Christmas.

What are your favorite Christmas cookies?
Are there any that are specific to your family, like Father cookies are to ours?

Have a great day!

  1. We always make Christmas cookies with cookie cutters every year, and we frost and decorate them. We make turkey cookies every Thanksgiving too! What are Father cookies?

    1. I love that you have turkey cookies at Thanksgiving! Too cool.
Well, now that's a good question. Our family calls them Father Cookies, because great-grandma's father loved them. So it's really a family name for another recipe. We're still trying to figure out what the real cookie is called. But they are kind of like a cross between a sugar and butter cookie. Love them!
